Activity Introduction
Rapid climate change has driven governments around the world to declare states of climate emergency over the past few years. Many governments and companies have committed to source and enhance the usage of renewable electricity. The Taiwan government has set a target to phase out nuclear power by 2025 and launched a series of energy innovation plans since 2017, including amending the Electricity Act and Renewable Energy Development Act to deregulate the electricity market. The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection has set up National Renewable Energy Certification Center and renewable energy trading mechanism. In order to enhance renewable energy innovation, the Executive Yuan approved the Green Finance Action Plan proposed by the Financial Supervisory Commission in 2017 and announced Green Finance 2.0 in 2020. The expectation is that financial resources will increasingly be injected into green industries and drive energy transformation.
Since 2020 marks the start of Taiwan’s renewable energy free trade market, PwC Taiwan together with the China Economic Research Institution (CIER) and the ECCT’s Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) in conjunction with the Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance (TABF) are organising this forum to bring together experts in green finance and renewable energy to share experiences and discuss the financing environment, demand and supply of renewable energy and renewable energy trading model.
This forum will be of special interest to companies in green technology, financial institutions, investors and renewable energy businesses.
